Stop limited thinking in it’s tracks

Updated: Mar 15, 2022

I believe managing your thoughts is the key to unleashing the unlimited way of life that God created us to have. Our Father in heaven is omnipotent (Revelations 19:6); he has unlimited power and is able to do anything. As his children, we are able to reap the benefits of his omnipotence but sometimes life experiences, sin and doubt about who we are and who we belong to get in the way of this limitless thinking mode. If it is your thinking that is holding you back then your mind must be renewed. Renewing your mind requires daily effort and attention. Here are some tips and daily maintenance scriptures to help feed and strengthen your spirit:

Recognize when your thoughts are not from God I once heard world renowned Pastor and Author, Dr. Charles Stanley, say in one of his televised sermons, which I am paraphrasing, that you can‘t control a bird flying over your head but you can control whether or not it lays a nest there. Getting your thoughts in check requires first recognzing if it is of God or not and then choosing to obey God’s word for that situation.

2 Corinthians 10:4-5 KJV 4(For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) 5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalted itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

James 4:7 KJV Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

Refuse to talk the way you used to talk Rebuke ungodly thoughts by speaking against them with God’s word.

Ephesians 4:21-23 KJV 21 If so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus: 22 That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to deceitful lusts; 23 be renewed in the spirit of your mind;

2 Corinthians 5:17 KJV Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

Proverbs 23:16 KJV Yea, my reins shall rejoice, when thy lips speak right things.

Philippians 4:13 KJV I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

Remember this is a spiritual battle; it requires spiritual weapons

Ephesians 6:12 KJV For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

2 Corinthians 10:4-5 KJV 4(For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) 5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalted itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

Psalm 31:5 KJV Into thine hand I commit my spirit; thou has redeemed me, O LORD God of truth

Romans 3:24 KJV Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:
